Chitra Khare completed her masters in clinical psychology from Pune, India, and she worked extensively in the field of mental health in Pune in various capacities for 10 years. Chitra is a co-founder of a non-profit organization called TRIMITI Trust (Training, Research and Interventions in Mental health and Illness through Innovation) in India. TRIMITI focuses on promotion and restoration of mental health. Chitra works with her mentor, Dr. Susan R. McGurk, at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University. Her research interests include the development of a model of mainstream work and employment options for individuals with severe mental illnesses. Chitra has published in Current Treatment Options, and she has recently received a grant from Dudley Allen Sargent Research Fund (DASRF) to support her current research on work status and employment preferences of individuals with severe mental illnesses in India.
