CERTIFICATE PROGRAM TO RECEIVE NATIONAL AWARD

The Center’s Certificate Program in Psychiatric Vocational Rehabilitation has been chosen to receive the 2002 Rehabilitation Services Administration Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Education and Training. This one-year program is designed to help rehabilitation counselors in state vocational rehabilitation systems improve their skills to build and sustain partnerships with persons who experience psychiatric disabilities. Certificate Program Project Director, Debbie Nicolellis, will accept the award at the National Rehabilitation Education Conference in Washington, DC on October 8, 2002. POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS OFFERED

We are pleased to announce that starting in December 2002, the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at Boston University will offer three individuals a two-year postdoctoral research training fellowship in psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery from serious mental illness. A stipend and tuition for coursework are available. Four day per week commitment with partial presence at Boston University is required. Applicants are expected to possess a doctorate in a clinical or related field. IAPSRS TOOLKIT ARTICLE AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

“The IAPSRS Toolkit: Development, Utility, and Relation to other Performance Measurement Systems” published in the Summer 2001 issue of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal is now available for download. This article describes an outcome measurement system that can be used to document the achievements of service recipients in psychosocial rehabilitation programs and monitor progress toward recovery.
